Sejong University
Sejong University is a private university located in Seoul, South Korea, and has built a strong reputation since its establishment in 1940. Its origins trace back to the Kyung Sung Humanities Institute, founded by a trust in 1940. In 1978, the institution was renamed Sejong University in honor of Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Chosun Dynasty and the creator of the Korean alphabet, Hangeul.
Today, Sejong University comprises 11 colleges, serving approximately 12,000 undergraduate students, 2,400 graduate students, and 1,700 international students. The university has placed particular emphasis on engineering education, increasing its engineering student body from just 40 in 1996 to 1,207 in 2017. Guided by the belief that “the world’s finest faculty produces the world’s finest graduates,” Sejong University announced a vision to rank among the top 50 universities in Asia by 2020.
Significant efforts have been made to enhance research and educational performance, achieving numerous milestones in the university’s ongoing development and growth.
